False Hero Release Date

False Hero launches on 22 September 2026 for Windows on Steam. That date is on the live store page (coming_soon: true as of this writing) and in the developer’s late-August news post that pulled the game forward from 1 October 2026. This page is the launch briefing: platforms, edition guesses we will not make, and what you should finish in the demo before that Tuesday arrives.

The date, twice

On 27 July 2026 Torchlight Games announced 1 October 2026 with a trailer and a progress report: armor pieces and Combat Scrolls in, NPCs missing voice acting, more secrets and art passes still to come. In late August the same channels said development was going well enough to move one week earlier to 22 September 2026, to give the game space among other releases. Believe the later post. Store copy now prints 22 Sep.

There is no console date. A developer comment during the playtest period said consoles might happen; that is not a SKU. Mac and Linux requirement blocks on Steam are empty. Steam Deck compatibility is unknown. If you want False Hero on day one, you want a Windows PC that meets the system requirements.

Price, editions, DLC

Steam lists the game as not free. Package groups are still empty, which is how unreleased store pages look when a price is not public. This wiki will not invent $24.99. Two DLC app IDs exist on the parent app (4709240, 4739180) without public store names in the feed we used — do not assume they are combat packs. Soundtrack and extras are the boring, likely answer. Wait for Ytopia to label them.

A free demo (app 4702340) has been public since 4 June 2026. That is the edition you can play tonight. Wishlist the full game on the Steam page so the 22 September unlock pings you.

What “launch” is supposed to contain

From the developer, not from a leak:

• The rest of the Lands of the Gods beyond Wisdom’s demo knot — swamps, ruins, cities, a named land of Birth.
• A completed Combat Art catalogue (“dozens”).
• Armor pieces and Combat Scrolls already implemented as of July.
• NPC voice acting that was still missing in July.
• More secrets, older-area visual updates, balance time.
• The moral fork: rescue the gods of Life or become an apostle of Death.
• Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud, full controller support, family sharing after release (the page currently excludes family sharing because it is unreleased).

Single-player only. No surprise second-player mode is listed. If you are waiting for a friend to invade, you are waiting for a different genre.

How to use the remaining days

1. Install the demo. Clear Ignorance and the machines.
2. Bind a poke and a sweep. Combat Arts, builds.
3. Confirm your PC. System requirements.
4. Read demo patches so launch-week muscle memory matches August, not June.
5. Tick the demo checklist.

The playtest trailer on this page is history — it is how a lot of people found the game via Iron Pineapple and GameTrailers. The product you will buy on 22 September is the six-year solo build that demo is sampling. Wishlist, practise the dash, and do not ask this wiki for a midnight-release crack. Steam will unlock it when Valve’s clock says so.
