False Hero System Requirements

False Hero is a Windows Steam release. There is no Mac or Linux depot on the store page, no console SKU with a date, and no cloud-streaming promise from Torchlight Games. If your machine misses the numbers below, wishlist anyway and play on a friend’s box — the demo is the right test, because the art direction is dirty on purpose and still needs a GPU that can push a 3D scene at a stable clip.

Figures come from the live Steam appdetails for app 2538870. Demo app 4702340 published a similar sheet (some older mirrors listed 7 GB storage; the full game listing is 12 GB). Use 12 GB as the disk you actually free.

This is a 2017-era midrange box. It will run the game. It may not run the pixelize filter, extra particles, and a lock-on camera in a crowded library at a comfortable frame rate. Turn Visual Style down, disable pixelize if the option is there, and play at 1080p before you blame the dash for input lag that is actually GPU hitching.

Belgium Vidéo Gaming ran the demo on a Ryzen 7 4000-series laptop with 16 GB RAM and an RTX 3050 (4 GB). They reported a stable session, no blocking bugs, English language, consistent fluidity. That laptop sits near the recommended line, not the minimum. If you are on a 4 GB card, close overlays, do not HDR-tone-map a PSX filter, and expect the camera — not the GPU — to be the real complaint in corridors.

What the specs do not tell you

False Hero is single-player. There is no always-online check beyond Steam. Steam Cloud is listed, so your demo progress can follow a second PC if you stay on the same account. Full controller support means a cheap Xbox pad is a better upgrade than a new RGB keyboard.

The look is retro. That does not mean it is cheap to render. Full-screen effects, the dirty filter, and large bosses (dragons, angelic silhouettes, mechanical saw constructs) still fill a 1080p buffer. Steam Deck compatibility is listed as unknown on the store page — do not buy a Deck assuming Proton will be officially blessed on day one. If you experiment, that is on you; this wiki will not invent a Deck rating.

Storage at 12 GB is small by 2026 standards. Leave headroom for Steam and for the demo sitting beside the full game during launch week. DirectX 10 on minimum versus 12 on recommended is a generation split: if your GPU is DX11-class, you are in the “it runs” bucket, not the “it sings” bucket.

Pre-launch checklist for your hardware

1. Update GPU drivers before 22 September 2026. Soulslikes with unusual filters are where old drivers stutter.
2. Install the demo first. If Ignorance’s second phase hitch-stutters, your machine — not your timing — may be the problem.
3. Set a frame cap you can hold. A stable 60 with a readable dash is better than an unlocked 90 that dies in the statue plaza.
4. Disable overlays that hook the camera. Lock-on is already a known sore spot; extra software makes it worse.
5. Confirm Windows is 64-bit. The store requires it on both min and rec.

Price is still unpublished on Steam (is_free is false, but there is no live package group). Specs will not change because a sale appears. If you are buying a GPU for this game alone, stop — the recommended card is last-gen on purpose. Spend the money on a pad and on learning Combat Arts.
